How do I update my payment information?

Note: Akismet uses WordPress.com user accounts for account management. In order to manage your Akismet plan, access Akismet billing information, or update Akismet payment methods, please log in using your WordPress.com account.

You can make changes to your Akismet billing settings, add and update payment methods by logging in to your Akismet account via WordPress.com.

View and manage your payment methods

To add or change payment methods for your Akismet plan, please follow these steps:

  1. First, log into your WordPress.com account:
    https://wordpress.com/me
  2. Go to your Purchases page. (https://wordpress.com/me/purchases)
  3. Click on Payment Methods. (https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/payment-methods)
  4. From there, you can delete existing payment methods, add new payment methods, assign a payment method to all of your plans, and assign a backup payment method.

How to Add a New Payment Method

  1. Click the “Add payment method” button
  2. Fill in your payment details
  3. Choose whether to use this payment method for all your subscriptions by checking or unchecking the box labeled “Use this payment method for all subscriptions on my account“

How to Set Up a Backup Payment Method

  1. For any existing payment method, check the box that says “Use as backup“
  2. This ensures that if your primary payment method fails, the system will automatically try your backup method(s)
  3. You can set multiple backup methods if needed

Change or add a payment method to a specific plan

If you would like to change/add the payment method for a specific plan, you can do so by:

  1. Go to https://wordpress.com/me/purchases. You should see a list of all of your active purchases.
  2. Click on the plan that you want to change/add the payment method on. 
  3. Click Add payment method (or Change payment method if you have one already).
  4. Fill in the information. Optionally, you can also click the Use this payment method for all subscriptions on my account checkbox, and it will apply this new payment method to all of your plans.

Manually renew a plan

If you would like to manually renew a plan prior to it’s scheduled renewal, perhaps because you updated a payment method for the plan, you can do so by:

  1. Go to https://wordpress.com/me/purchases. You should see a list of all of your active purchases.
  2. Click on the plan that you want to change/add the payment method on. Or, in the Action column to the right, click the three dots which align with the plan and select “Manage Purchase.”
  3. Click the Renew Now button.
  4. You’ll be taken to the checkout page, where you can verify the correct payment method is selected, and complete the checkout.

Payment methods

For payment, we accept:

  • All major credit and debit cards
  • PayPal, in supported countries
  • In some countries, we support additional local payment methods:
    • Belgium: Bancontact
    • China: Alipay, WeChat Pay
    • Germany: Giropay
    • The Netherlands: iDEAL
    • Poland: Przelewy24 (P24)

We cannot accept: 

  • Checks
  • Cash
  • Purchase or money orders
  • Any payment that must be mailed
  • Payment over the phone
