To celebrate Akismet day we have a new version of the WordPress plugin for y’all.
Version 2.1 main new addition is the ability to filter by comment type, as seen here:
There’s also a new hook so other plugins could add addition tabs to the sub‑nav as well — I’m curious to see what people end up putting there. If you use that hook for a plugin, be sure to let me know so we can blog about it.
Update: There were two small bugs, if you have 2.1.2 all errors (headers sent, etc) should be fixed.
i already upgrade my askimet 5 minutes ago
Just want to say THANK YOU for the great work!
This plugin in is one of the most important for my blog! 🙂
Thankx. Without Akismet, blogging would be a nightmare.
cool man thanx for sharing
Great stuff! I like the new features a lot.
Thank you 🙂
Great thanks for the new release.
Really cant imagine bloggin’ life without Akismet. Thanks!
Wow.. Great. I have downloaded and upgraded my akismet.. You helped me alot to kill spammers.. Thank you akismet
Filtering by comment type sounds like a perfect adaptation. We’ve recently been discussing how to make the most of all the comment spam that we get by leveraging the keywords used and even just simply writing about some of the weirder stuff. This will aid and abet us in that effort.

Be careful: it doesn’t work right on 2.0.X installations. I’ve e-mailed the guys at support to see if they can provide the old 2.0 version for us who still use the 2.0.X WordPress version.
I upgraded mine too. Working great, 😀
Great work and thanks for the updates
anyway you could implement a whitelist 😉
Thanks =)
Thanks for fixing the bugs!
Akismet is really my most important plugin.
Its the most important plugin in my wordpress setup. Probably saved me countless hours of spam filtering.
Thanks!
I’m using 2.2 wordpress and 2.0 akismet but the upgrade to 2.1.2 isn’t overwriting the older version… I tried deactivating it but still it doesn’t work… any ideas how to make it work? thanks…
Thanks for releasing the update in relation to our Spam Filter Free Day experiment.
Will this release add a possibility to check comments for spam in retrospect? I feel this would be a major improvement — especially for new Akismet users that suddenly get overwhelmed by spam and afterwards decide to try out Akismet.
By rechecking comments for spam, there would be a success introduction for them to Akismet.
I posted about this and other tiny findings here:
Justaddwater.dk: Cleanup Time — Spam Filter Free Day
No one can think blogging life without Akismet.
A true watch-dog.
Thanks for great stuff and sharing for blogging community.
Awesome! Thanks guys 😀
