To celebrate Akismet day we have a new version of the WordPress plugin for y’all.
Version 2.1 main new addition is the ability to filter by comment type, as seen here:

There’s also a new hook so other plugins could add addition tabs to the sub-nav as well — I’m curious to see what people end up putting there. If you use that hook for a plugin, be sure to let me know so we can blog about it.

Update: There were two small bugs, if you have 2.1.2 all errors (headers sent, etc) should be fixed.
great work…noticed some…how shall we say, … ‘creativity’ in some of the new crapola from the spam world like:
“Basically not much exciting going on. Whatever. I’ve just been staying at home doing nothing, but oh well. I’ve just been letting everything wash over me , but I don’t care. Such is life. Maybe tomorrow.”
funny thing is, none i.e NONE have managed to slip by Akismet…by the way please dont delete this as it goes to giving super refined butter to rich people in the hollywood hills
Good stuff bro
Thanks man…
I really liked Akismet until it started flagging me as spam based on my new domain. Using all the same information and my other web site URL everything works fine, but if I use the current domain, it bins me. I’m a little unhappy with that, and Akismet’s success (yaaay!) means that on most WP blogs I’m automatically locked out, or worse confirmed as a spammer if no one looks through their queue and realizes it’s a false positive (noooo!). That’s kind of a bummer.
Heck, I haven’t even been using it long enough to spam anyone! I wonder if maybe somebody previously had that domain and they weren’t net-friendly?
Just a few hours after my post up there, my problem got resolved. Great response by Matt and the WordPress.com support team. Thanks!
Out of curiosity, what’s new in 2.1.3?
I’ve got the same problem as Robert. All of the sudden my comments to my friends blogs (and to my own if not logged in) goes directly to the spam bin. And I’ve never spammed. How do I get out of that situation again?
Just a small bugfix.
@Rosenstand – you should be okay now, but any problems use the contact form (link at the top) and I’ll take care of it.
I’m just migrating to wordpress, and akismet really save my precious time 🙂 Thanks and happy new year 😉
is it possible to keep posting the same thing over and over again across the web and it not be spam? check this out
I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.

I googled this guys name and the same comment keeps popping up all over the web. he has a link to a blog of sorts as well…any noticing this as well?
I just wanted you to know how much I love Akismet. I’m new to WordPress, and I’m so impressed by how easy Akismet is to use and how effective it is.
Thank you so much!
2.1.4 is out. Is it another non-important bugfix or is it an upgrade which will be explained in a new post?
I update my Aksimet. Works good, thanks.
At this time 93 spam (in 2 weeks).
Sorry my bad English.
thanks for the pluging y gracias por la traduccion español
I strongly recommend
Thank you very much for the plugin. I love you guys. If I didn’t have Akismet, I don’t know if I would have a blog, because of all the spam.
So Thanks again…
Thank you, thank you Akismet! My blog- http://www.sacredandtheprofane.com – would not exist without your plugin. I was getting so many spams a day AND being notified about each one on my blackberry. You saved the day!
Updated, saves me so much trouble !
I think that there is a severe problem with askimet showing high volumes of false positive spam. You should do something about it soon.
Thomas,
The link you provided in your comment (which we removed) is to an advertisement for a penis enlargement product. I think it’s fair to say that Akismet is doing its job if it catches your comments as spam.
I’m just migrating to wordpress, and akismet really save my ass :p
