Why am I receiving this error?

A Personal subscription may not be appropriate for your current usage. Our Personal subscription is intended solely for use with personal, non-commercial sites and blogs. E-commerce sites, sites intending to primarily drive traffic to affiliate programs, or any sites created mainly to serve commercial purposes require one of our premium subscriptions.

Which plan should I choose?

If you are using Akismet to prevent spam on fewer than ten commercial sites, you can choose the Pro subscription. You can purchase a multi-site license if you are using Akismet on more than one site. If you are still unsure or would like to discuss pricing with one of our team members, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Can I just de-activate Akismet?

Yes. If you are currently using our WordPress plugin, go to the Plugins menu in your dashboard and click on the ’Deactivate’ link found directly under ’Akismet.’ If you happen to be using a different client, please refer to its documentation regarding deactivation. Note that your site(s) will then be left unprotected from spam, which is not recommended.
